DR. DANIEL GIBBS BSC, DDS, FAGD, FICOI, FIAO, DIPLOMATE, IBO
Dr. Daniel Gibbs graduated from the University Of Toronto Faculty Of Dentistry in 1982, having been awarded the Toronto Crown and Bridge Study Club Award. Upon graduating, he set up practice in Toronto where his main focus has been to learn and provide the best dental procedures to meet his patients' needs. Dr. Gibbs started his practice performing a variety of dental procedures including regular and complex dental restorations, cosmetic veneers, root canals and surgery (periodontal and wisdom teeth). Having studied laser training in Buffalo, New York at Ivoclar Vivadent in 2012, he now
regularly uses lasers in his practice.
He started restoring implants in 1987 after completing the Nobel course at the University of Toronto, and quickly began to complete complex restorative cases and challenging cosmetic cases. In March of 2000, Dr. Gibbs successfully completed the implant surgical course to place implants for his own patients. This was a unique opportunity to place and then restore implants for patients without any referral to a specialist.
Dr. Gibbs has been placing implants both for single and multiple use for over 16 years, and restoring implants since 1987. He has taken many courses with different implant systems, and Zimmer Dental and has been a referral for other dentists who want their patients to have the benefit of implants. He has taken courses in connective tissue grafting and periodontal surgery, most notably the connective tissue surgical course provided by the Perio Institute in 2006.
In 2002, he successfully completed the Level 2 implant surgical course including bone grafting and sinus lifts, and since then has attended many different implant-related courses. Currently, he is a member of the Crown and Bridge Study Club (since 1990) and Toronto Cosmetic Implant Study Club (since its inception). In order to gain access to the latest research in the implant field, in 2011 Dr. Gibbs joined the International Congress of Oral Implantologists, an organization that connects dentists placing and restoring implants around the world. In 2012, he achieved Fellow status with the International Congress of Oral Implantologists in Toronto. Committed to lifelong learning, in 2014 Dr. Gibbs completed the Zimmer Institute Revitalize Course in San Diego, California for Full Arch Rehabilitation with Implants.
In 2004, Dr. Gibbs joined Dr. Garcia's orthodontic study club sponsored by the International Straight Wire Group. He was accepted into the International Association of Orthodontists in Dec 2009, and was trained in Align Technology for Invisalign® Orthodontics that same year.
With an eye to sharing his considerable knowledge and skill, Dr. Gibbs has been teaching part-time at the Univeristy of Toronto Faculty of Dentisty Prosthodontic Department as a Clinical Instructor for 3rd year students since 2014.
