Adult orthodontics involves the movement of teeth to achieve a proper occlusion and better alignment of teeth. The benefits of straight teeth are not just cosmetic;
straight teeth are easier to keep clean, and a proper bite will prevent pain and discomfort when eating or speaking. For the patients concerned with the look of braces, invisible braces, Invisalign®, can be used in certain cases of mild to moderate crowding. Orthodontics for Children
Children can begin orthodontic therapy as young as age 7. This type of orthodontic intervention is called interceptive orthodontics. Children of this age have some adult teeth and some primary teeth, and there are many different options that can be used with the growing patient to achieve a stable and solid occlusion. Alternatively, children can begin orthodontic therapy after their permanent teeth have erupted, a process which is referred to as corrective orthodontics. Some children benefit from early treatment while others can be treated later. Dr. Gibbs will be happy to discuss your child’s oral health treatment plan with you.
